All About Rings
As we all know, over the past couple years chunky rings have finally made the comeback we have desperately been waiting for. Obviously rings have been a staple accessory item for years, but now we’re seeing more and more rings stacked on not only women but men as well. Clearly, men will typically flaunt their wedding rings, but as time has gone on, wearing more than just the symbol of your love has become a reoccurring statement. From Keith Richards famous skull ring, to chunky pieces of silver on every finger of Steven Tyler’s (with the addition of his signature black nail polish), rings have been in the rock scene for decades, and they aren’t going away any time soon. Turning away from the rock scene, stars like Johnny Depp has put his silver rocks on display. Rings for all genders is a look not everyone gets at the moment, mainly old fashioned individuals, however, as more men discover their confidence more and accept to not take into account what others think, rings are going to be on every corner you look.
Not only are rings great for fashion but for people who fidget easily and need to keep some part of their body moving at all times, rings are a lifesaver. I personally started wearing multiple rings at about the age of 12, not only because of old pictures of my mother in her rocker years gushing over Def Leppard with all the rings in the world on her hands as inspiration, but during school, sitting still was never something I could do easily. Once I started to wear rings, I found that having pieces of jewelry at my convenience was a way to keep my hands busy during classes while constantly turning and playing with them when I needed. Obviously, playing with them without realizing often meant little me losing them on the classroom floors and having to go to the mall after school and buy a new one, so instead of your typical thin rings that can easily fall through cracks, wide chunky rings come into place.
As time went on, rings became more in style with people my age, so I was no longer the fun unique one with all the big rings, (bummer, I know) but now everyone really sees how important rings are to any look. With fashion, there really are no rules, and that goes the same for rings. We all have our opinions on what we believe looks best, but really, you can’t go wrong. Personally, I think all rings are unisex. I’ve gone into multiple jewelers and found myself finding the pieces in the men section much more appealing to me, as they typically have more thickness to them for a bulkier look, which I have always found extremely attractive. It goes the same for men as well, wandering into the women’s section for jewelry (even clothes) is not an issue people should be ashamed of. Fashion is all about confidence and is meant to be fun, no rules attached, just feel free in the pieces you choose. Your typical diamond rings from Tiffany’s are beautiful of course, but the real fun in finding rings is searching for the statement pieces that are gonna make you feel more confident and free. I may be biased in saying chunkier rings are the way to go being that I grew up watching hard rock bands with my mom and all the guys were wearing the thickest rings you can imagine as you were mesmerized by the shining silver in pair with their electric guitars.
There is only one ongoing question with rings; gold or silver? In just two categories, many different styles and materials stem out from these two classics. If you prefer to go in the gold department, you can pick from either classic yellow gold which will never get old, rose gold, which is a more pinky shade, and many more. With silver it’s more of just a one and done kind of pick. With different materials like platinum, palladium, sterling, and white gold, they all have a very similar appearance so it boils down to quality in that sense. Lots of people like to mix and match their rings with having a mixture of both gold and silver, while some prefer to stick to one shade. Either way, both work, no argument there. Some rings even have started to have stones which can add a pop of color where you least expect it. My personal favorite is ruby, but sapphire, emerald, and amethyst are also stellar and catches your eye in the most perfect way.
There are plenty of rings we have all grown to love, but here are some of my favorites that have become an everyday staple for me, and will feel absolutely lost without.
With so many options, the possibilities are endless with this essential accessory. I prefer to wear 9 rings on all fingers except for my left ring finger, but how few or how many is a personal preference and once again can never go wrong.
